William Hogg se demande si Michel Gagné est vraiment le candidat conservateur dans Compton-Stanstead

Sherbrooke (Arrondissement de Lennoxville), le 22 septembre 2008. Pour une deuxième fois de suite, le candidat conservateur ne sera pas présent lors d'un débat des candidats dans Compton-Stanstead. « Je suis stupéfait d'apprendre qu'il sera absent à l'université Bishop's lors de notre prochain débat jeudi soir. Est-ce qu'il se présente toujours aux élections? » demande M. Hogg, candidat libéral dans Compton-Stanstead.

« Encore, il faut se demander si le mot d'ordre de son chef, comme d'autres l'ont confirmé, est de cacher ses candidats locaux », questionne M. Hogg.

Mais d'après l'information reçue par M. Hogg, dans les comtés environnants, les autres candidats conservateurs participeront aux débats locaux. « Si c'est le cas, pourquoi le candidat n'est pas là? »

Lors des entrevues dans les médias locaux depuis le début de la campagne, le candidat conservateur fait croire qu'il veut travailler pour le comté et être à l'écoute des gens. « Mais en se désistant sans cesse des débats, ces paroles ne valent plus rien », soutient M. Hogg. « Le candidat conservateur semble n'avoir aucun intérêt à vraiment travailler pour bien représenter les citoyens de Compton-Stanstead. »

M. Hogg, qui n'a aucune hésitation à participer aux débats dans les quatre coins du comté, en anglais et en français, lance un défi au candidat conservateur : «Présentez-vous à l'université Bishop's jeudi soir – c'est votre responsabilité et votre devoir envers les gens de Compton-Stanstead. »

William Hogg wonders if Michel Gagné is still the Conservative candidate in Compton-Stanstead

Sherbrooke (Lennoxville Borough), Sept. 22, 2008. For a second time in a row, the Conservative candidate will not be present for a debate in Compton-Stanstead. "I was stupefied to learn that he will be absent for the debate Thursday night at Bishop's University. Is he still running in these elections?" asks Mr. Hogg, Liberal candidate in Compton-Stanstead.

"We still have to ask, as others have confirmed, whether Harper's party wants to hide their local candidates." said Mr. Hogg.

But according to information received by Mr. Hogg, Conservative candidates in neighbouring ridings will be present at their debates. "If that is the case, why is he not there?" asks Mr. Hogg.

The Conservative candidate has repeatedly said, in interviews with the local media, that he wants to work hard to win the riding and listen to the people. "By backing out repeatedly for these important debates, his word has no value" asserts Mr. Hogg. "The Conservative candidate seems to be disinterested in doing what it takes to represent well the citizens of Compton-Stanstead."

Mr. Hogg, who is willing to debate, in English and French, in the four corners of the riding, challenges the Conservative candidate: "Show up at Bishop's University on Thursday night – it is your obligation and responsibility towards the people of Compton-Stanstead."
