» termine M. Hogg.

Last all-candidates debate in Compton-Stanstead: where were the candidates?

Sherbrooke (Lennoxville Burough) October 9, 2008. Absent for the debate tonight organised by CJMQ were the candidates from the Bloc, the Conservatives and the NDP.

William Hogg, Liberal candidate in Compton-Stanstead, deplores their absence. “5 days before the vote, almost 20% of the electorate are undecided. The voters need all the information they can get to make their choice on October 14th.” said M. Hogg. “By evading this opportunity to speak to their fellow citizens, the Bloc, the Conservatives and the NDP have abandoned them.”

The most shocking by her absence was Bloc candidate France Bonsant. “Why? She had confirmed her participation over two weeks ago. Is it because Mrs. Bonsant is unwilling to respond to questions raised during the campaign?” asked Mr. Hogg. “We need answers, especially with regards to her incompetence in handling the barrier issue in Stanstead.”

Mr. Hogg was also disappointed by the absence of NDP candidate Jean Rousseau. “His reason for not attending was his belief that his English was not strong enough. But he was more than willing to participate in North Hatley and at Bishop’s University.”

Conservative candidate Michel Gagné, better known as “Mr. Invisible,” did not participate either. “Plus ça change…” concluded M. Hogg.
